Dear Reader,
"Am I standing in my power or am I trying to please
another?"
Trusting and having confidence in our own selves can often be
a challenge. To do so requires us to let go of the need to
please others and the need to be liked by them. Listening to our
own voice may be scary -- it requires risk-taking and faith.
Claiming our power, and being comfortable in it, demands that we
practice self-care. We also strengthen our power when we expect,
trust, and ACT on our intuition.

| Increase
the Effectiveness of Management & Leadership
Development Efforts By 65%! |
 |
| Critical
factors that influence the transfer of skills learned in
management and leadership development programs include
the opportunity to practice newly learned skills, being
held accountable for using newly learned skills, and
receiving feedback on the use of those skills.
By including a coaching component in a leadership
development initiative, where participants have access
to a coach during and after a leadership development
program, the effectiveness of the leadership development
effort is increased by as much as 65%!
This finding was confirmed in a study published in
Public Personnel Management magazine, where one-on-one
executive coaching was integrated into a leadership
development initiative to provide opportunities for
goal-setting, practice, and feedback on the use of new
skills.

| How
to Expect, Trust, and Act on YOUR Intuition |
 |
| "The
reason why so many people are miserable is not because
they don't have intuition. Rather, it's because they
don't ACT on their intuition." -- Carolyn Myss
Intuition is that inner knowing that goes beyond
logic and reason. Many of us feel that some people are
"gifted" with intuition while others are not.
Everyone has intuition -- it's a matter of strengthening
that intuitive muscle, trusting your intuitive
"hits," and acting on them.
What is the voice of intuition? How does your
intuition speak to you? How can you strengthen your own
intuition? Come learn the answers to these questions and
experience your own intuition in a free teleclass
entitled "Intuition: Recognizing and Strengthening
Your Inner Voice" on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00
p.m.
To register for this teleclass, simply send an e-mail
to dan@performancemastery.com and include the class name
and date as well as your name and e-mail address. You
will then be given a bridge number to call for the free

| Performance
Improvement: Systematic & Creative Techniques to
Improve Employee Performance |
 |
| What
are some concrete ways to improve employee performance
in today's workplace? What are some of the root causes
for less than desired performance? Dan presented
concrete answers to these questions during his
presentation as part of a series of workshops sponsored
by The Possibility Network (www.indianalearn.com) that
also featured Isiah Thomas, Head Coach for the Indiana
Pacers.
Participants in Dan's session learned how factors
external to an employee (such as organzational systems
and processes, incentives, and leadership issues) are
often the root cause of performance issues in the
workplace. So often we think of "fixing the
employee" with training as the answer to
performance issues in the workplace, when research shows
that strengthening an employee's knowledge or skill only
fixes about 20% of performance issues in the workplace.
The missing link in performance improvement -- the
relationship between boss and employee -- was also
explored in detail. Techniques a leader can use to
improve employee performance, enhance spirit, and
strengthen employee commitment in the workplace were
also discussed. Four of the most important techniques
include reducing fear, building trust, acknowledging and
employee's concern, and validating an employee's
feelings. These ideas were cheered by presentation
participants.
Dan will be presenting this session again in
September in both Indianapolis and Marion, Indiana. See
the feature link for more details or contact Dan at
317-791-0570 or dan@performancemastery.com.
