Dan Johnson, CEC, is President of Performance Mastery, a performance improvement and executive coaching firm located in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Dan has been consulting with organizational leaders on performance improvement issues for over 16 years.  Among his clients have been large financial institutions, insurance companies, manufacturers, and associations with leaders throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.  Dan's expertise extends to the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), having served as career coach for conference attendees at the ASTD International Convention and Expo.

Dan’s broad experience with Performance Improvement strategies led him to create an in-house performance improvement consulting team at American United Life, an $11 billion financial services company.  This consulting team successfully addressed issues of employee productivity, retention, and job satisfaction; change management and the merging of cultures during company acquisitions; targeted performance reviews with ongoing feedback; teambuilding for improved performance and morale; and effective leadership development through training, coaching, and on-the-job application of new skills.  These initiatives changed the way managers and leaders viewed employee performance throughout the company and contributed to a culture in which employees felt valued for their efforts.  Prior to his work with American United Life, Dan created a comprehensive leadership development program for leaders from 20 countries focused on increasing their effectiveness in communications, problem-solving, strategic planning, and other leadership issues.

Dan’s success with performance improvement and leadership initiatives has been driven by his systematic and creative approach to helping a variety of organizations achieve desired performance results from their employees.  His experience has included roles as consultant, coach, trainer, and performance improvement professional in the U.S. and abroad.  As a performance consultant he has successfully addressed issues of employee productivity, retention, and job satisfaction; change management and the merging of cultures during company acquisitions; targeted performance reviews with ongoing feedback; and effective leadership development through training, coaching, and on-the-job application of new skills.  His executive coaching work has helped clients be more effective on the job, renew their passion for their profession, live more authentically, and create more balance in their lives.  His work as both internal and external consultant has contributed to the success of American United Life Insurance Company; Chase Bank; The Kroger Company; Advanced Marketing Services Inc.; Clarian Health Partners; Hancock Regional Hospital; Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Company; Golden Rule Insurance Company; Internal Revenue Service; Office of the Attorney General for the State of Indiana; Roche Diagnostics; Keihin Indiana Precision Technology; Kiwanis International; American Legion Auxiliary; and Indiana University.  He is a current adjunct faculty member of Indiana University, where he teaches courses in the Human Performance Improvement certificate program and the Leadership Certificate program.

Dan graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. from Purdue University in Financial Planning and earned an M.S. from Indiana University in Instructional Systems Technology.  He is a Certified Empowerment Coach through the Institute for Professional Empowerment Coaching and a third-year graduate of the Indianapolis Gestalt Institute.  Dan recently served as president of the Greater Indianapolis chapter of the International Coach Federation and has also served as president of CIASTD, the Central Indiana chapter of the American Society for Training and Development, and the Indianapolis chapter of ISPI, the International Society for Performance Improvement.  In addition to his work with GI-ICF, CIASTD, ASTD, and ISPI, Dan is an active member of the Association of Career Professionals International (ACP International).  He has been a featured speaker for the International Society for Performance Improvement Conference and is an award-winning presenter, having received CIASTD's "Presenter of the Year Award".
